PE Overviews - Class-by-class
Here you will find a class-by-class overview of the activities undertaken during P.E sessions, over each half term throughout the year.
As stated on the subject's main page, our physical education curriculum aims to include and inspire all pupils to succeed and achieve in all aspects of physical activity. It aims to provide children with appropriate levels of challenge that develop, strengthen and prioritise an individual’s physical, social and emotional health.
Above all, P.E at St. Peter’s aims to provide children with a safe environment that offers different opportunities to become physically confident, in a way that encourages and supports a healthy lifestyle (both in and out of school).
The long terms plans for each year group, which are attached to this page below, have been designed to run alongside themes in the classroom. This ensures that P.E is intergrated across a rich curriculum, providing valuable links within the children's learning - ultimately offering all children the opportunity to extend and broaden their learning, building on fundamental skills that they acquired and learned in previous years.
Regular opportunities to be a part of both competitive and non-competitive activity (both intra and inter-school) aims to develop character and further embed/ encourage key principles such as fairness and respect, further enhancing the core Christian values that are already rooted within and across our school. As the children progress through the Key Stages, they will experience different roles and responsibilities within their P.E sessions (such as leadership/ leading) and ALL children will learn how to contribute effectively in challenging individual and team situations.
