Year 1 2024 - 2025
Mrs Boswell
Y1 Class teacher
Welcome to Year 1 with Mrs Boswell, Mrs Barton and Mrs Westerside
Here are a few reminders of some of the routines in Year 1.
Currently our start and finish times are as follows: 8.55 am until 3.15 pm. (our class door will open at 8:50am)
Reading
We hear the children read every day and reading books are changed frequently. Please listen to your children reading each evening, they will bring home a ReadWrite Inc Book Bag Book which matches where they are up to in the Read Write Inc programme and is decodable, and a second reading book which is to share with you and a class library book for you to read together.
Home Learning
We will release a phonics film each week on Seesaw to support your child with their phonic knowledge so that they can overcome any gaps that they have. This also goes hand in hand with hearing them read frequently at home. Every second Friday we will release a Big Maths paper on Seesaw so that the children can practise different maths questions with you at home that link to the Year 1 learning objectives for maths. To further enhance our curriculum we ask that you have a go at some of the activities linked to the Year 1 Keys to Success tasks at home.
PE/Games
- For the foreseeable future, every Friday, the children will have a P.E lesson.
- Children can come into school on Fridays in their P.E kit - pumps or trainers can be worn with dark coloured trach suit bottoms in the winter.
- Trainers may be worn any day to help us have an active lunchtime and to do our daily mile
- All belongings should be clearly labelled.
Tuck
Toast and milk are available each day. Please make your payments through School Spider (toast) or cool milk (milk)
Your child has access to fresh water each day and their water bottles are cleaned and refilled daily and kept in school.
Communication
Please make an appointment via the office if you need to speak to me about anything. I am happy to help and will make arrangements for a telephone phone call/meeting at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Boswell
