Collective Worship
Collective Worship
We hold a daily act of worship in school which is of a Christian nature.
Worship is linked to our school Christian Values which are promoted by our pupils, staff and community.
Our key Christian Values are Faith, Hope, Love, Respect and Compassion.
Our daily act of worship lasts for approximately 20 minutes. We sing songs, share stories, reflect on our lives and the lives of others and give praise to God.
We say Grace together as a class before we eat our lunch and we also say a prayer at the end of our school day.
Parents are able to withdraw their child from our daily act of worship and a meeting with Mrs Alcock, our Headteacher, can be arranged to discuss this.
See our attached Worship Policy and Year Planner for more details.
In each class we have a reflection corner, where children can sit and write their own prayers or simply reflect.
We teach this version of the Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
Cathy, our Foundation Governor, came in recently to talk to us about Candlemas and Christiangle.
Afterwards, we all got the opportunity to make our own Christingles to take home and share with our families.
The leaders from the Girl's and Boy's brigade Eth and Kim, came in to talk to us about what happens when they meet. Some of the children who already attend Brigade shared their thoughts about it and their enthusiasm was very clear ... so much so that LOTS and LOTS of new members have now joined!
Experience After Easter
Our Experience After Easter event was a hugh success. Everyone enjoyed visiting the 6 stations and learning about what happened after Jesus rose from the dead.
Planting seeds, catching bubbles and making 'trinity' bracelets were just some of the activities we enjoyed that helped us to remember the key points of the story.
Joe Hayes is always a welcome visitor for worship; this morning he brought along his special friend, Scruff - we all loved him!
Reverened Sue joins us for worship each half term.
This half term we have been thinking about the Christian value of friendship.
Reverened Sue told us the importance of forgiveness if our friendships are to last.
We have been leaving messages for people who have shown us freindship. This has made us think carefullly about what we do to show others kindness and friendship
Harvest Festival
We have been celebrating and giving thanks to God for the wonderful variety of foods we have to chose from. We will be donating our harvest gifts to the local charity, Pantry Parcels who will distrute the food to those in our community who are in need.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Hebrews 13:16
Year 3 gave us a very important message about how we can take care of the wonderful world God created, well done! It was lovely to share our Harvest Festival with our parents as a live audience ... the first time for over 18 months.
